Propane Patio Heaters

One of the best things about Summertime is being able to enjoy the outdoors, especially your patios or decks, with friends and family. Nothing compares to a Summer BBQ or even just sitting around and chatting with friends on a warm Summer night. The cooler months never seem to allow for this same outdoor enjoyment once the weather begins to dip below a certain temperature. With a propane heater, however, you may be able to enjoy the outdoors year round. Propane patio heaters are not only an extremely effective method of heating patio areas outdoors, they are also extremely economical to purchase as well as operate.

How Do Propane Patio Heaters Work?

While there are several different types of patio heater designs and styles on the market, the most common models all work off the basic principle of radiating heat or infrared heat. This is accomplished with a heating unit that is connected to a propane source, wither directly or via some type of hose mechanism. The propane gas is pulled into the heating unit and ignited via an electric or manual spark. Once the gas begins to bur, it comes into contact with a series of ceramic or metal heating elements. As the heating elements begin to increase in temperature, they begin to give off, or radiate, heat to the area around them. Similar to the sun’s rays, these types of heaters will raise the temperature of the people surrounding them faster than increasing the temperature of the air.

Why Are Patio Propane Heaters Effective?

Radiating or infrared patio propane heaters are effective because, since they do not rely on the circulation of warm air to raise the temperature around them, they are not susceptible to open areas where breezes or drafts may be present. Patio heaters are extremely portable and can be moved to any location where their warmth is needed. They also come in a variety of sizes and, because of their affordable price, it is simple enough to buy several small units either in place of or to supplement a larger unit in order to be able to warm a larger area. Since they use propane as a heating source, they can also run without electricity, reducing their operating costs even further. Patio heaters can also be used in garages or workshops, as needed, making them somewhat multi-purpose for outdoor use. Patio propane heaters essentially give you the ability to have a Summer BBQ even in the Winter months. They also make it possible to enjoy an evening on the patio or deck, socializing with friends and family, without the weather interfering.
